Our wood products should never be put in the dishwasher or submerged or soaked in water. Always store your board in a dry area away from extreme temperatures. Store in an upright position.
To clean use a damp cloth or sponge with a mild soap, rinse, and dry completely with a towel.
Each wood item will need to be retreated over time. Occasionally, treat with food grade mineral oil. You can find food grade mineral oil at the drugstore or butcher block oil at the hardware store. Vegetable-based oils like coconut and olive oil are not recommended as they can go rancid.
Apply the oil in the direction of the wood grain with a dry cloth. Let the board dry and wipe off any excess oil. Re-oil every couple weeks or as needed. Always store your board in a dry area away from extreme temperatures. Store in an upright position.
For deep cleaning, sprinkle with coarse salt and scrub with half of a lemon, rinse with hot water.
If your board gets a bit wet and started to look a bit fuzzy and dull when it dries give it a light sanding (220 grit or higher) and re-oil.
